keyboard problem

when i tried to reconnect my computer and the hardware, everything went well til I attempted to type in some information. There is no response fromt he keyboard, although the caps lock and num lock lights are on. i can press the keys, but nothing appears on screen.
I went to control panel, keyboards, and nothing appears to be conencted. I clicked properties and troubleshoot and nothing happens. Can't find anything under the install/uninstall page.

Any ideas?

Are you using a USB or PS2 connection. If using a PS2 be sure it is in the right plug because there is the mouse plug and the look the same. If it is correct shut down and restart it.
