  • Want to Buy New Desktop Computer

Now that Windows 7 is out I'm in the market for a new desktop computer. I like HP--definitely NOT Dell. I have external DVD recorder and lots of other external stuff so don't need a lot of bells and whistles.

    Suggestions???

I would go for a minimum of a dual core processor.

Hi Muriel - If you're a member of Costco here in Sacto., they seem to have some good deals on HP. Plus you get a two year warranty (one year manufacturer and one year Costco). I'm also looking for a new desktop to replace my antique so have been doing some shopping. I also saw one at Sam's Club but prefer Costco because of the two year warranty. Jo Ann

They had on the news a few days ago in Nashville that Dell is closing one of their factories in the state that makes desk top units because of reduced demand with so many folks using laptops as their main computer these days.

I think i will be in the market shortly.
I move my computer back and forth from Wisconsin to Florida. Worked okay in wisconsin, but when i tried to install Comcast here, had problems. It seems my comuter has trouble finding Internet Explorer. Once I get on, it is fine, but sometimes i just can't get on, have to try several times, real slow to come up or doesn't come up at all. Ever heard of this problem?

I've had trouble with Internet Explorer many times in the past. I would suggest 2 options: upgrade to IE 8 if you haven't already, or perhaps even better, download Mozilla Firefox and make it your default browser.

I didn't realize I could just download it. My son just suggested getting firefox to me, but I didn't realize I could just go to their site and download it. i think I'll try it. Thanks
