  • Dept of Treasury is dumping Alex Hamilton

Interesetingly enough, the treasury department is about to dump Alexander Hamilton and replace him with a woman. I really hope they are not considering Bruce Jener.

The Treasury Department is preparing to announce that they are putting a woman on the $10 bill, as a source has confirmed what appears to be a premature tweet.

It's nice not to have to go to the supermarket to get news like this in the checkout lane.

If Bruce gets busy he could be that lucky lady on the $10. Some of the woman that do come to mind for this honor are Susan Anthony for her woman's right to vote dealio, Sacajawea for helping Lewis and Clark find their way to the Pacific, Harriet Tubman for helping people escape slavery, Vicky Woodhall for working on womans rights and my favorite and a long shot by far margin, environmentalist Rachael Carson.

Mother Jones , maybe. Certainly not Oprah or Woopie.

They really need to think this through some more. A dollar today has about the purchasing power of dime when I was growing up, but the highest banknote in circulation is still $100. In Europe, they circulate a 200 euro note and a 500 euro note. We need to adjust our currency for inflation. I would start with eliminating the one dollar note, as the UK has with the one pound note and the EU and never had a one euro note. I would add, at the least a $200 and $500 note, and possibly a $1,000. I would move Washington to one of them, use one for the woman, probably Susan B. Anthony, and put Reagan on the third. The one dollar coins we already have would circulate for that denomination.

In the USA it has always been a dead president, for the most part anyway, pictured on any bank note as far as I know. The $500 bill had McKinley, the $1000 bill had Cleveland, the $5000 bill had Madison, the $10,000 bill is Chase, who headed the treasury and became a chief justice under Lincoln, the $100,000 is Woody Wilson and the rumor was that a trillion dollar coin was minted with Obama on it.

If Chase was used because he was a chief justice I think that Sandra O Conor because she was the first female justice or Sonia Sotomeyer because she was the first Latina justice, would be decent picks, except for the fact that they are still breathing.

I would like to see Regan on a bill. I think some people are complaining that the $10 bill is not a high enough denomination to honor the first female on curency so placing her on the $1 might be a problem.

Get rid of the $1 bill, and then circulate those Sakajawea (sp) and SBA dollar coins.
