  • c-58 wreck dive

C-58 is a pretty cool wreck dive of a mine sweeper. The current was strong enough to be dropped down current from the site and drift while descending to 80 ft. We checked out the perimeter of the wreck and went inside. Once inside we went down a hall into a large room with no ceiling. As we approached the top deck we stopped to watch the 35 + eagle reys floating in the current above us. After 5 minutes of watching reys we went to the secondary wreck site. I had 32 minutes of bottom time before ascending using a buoy line for the safety stop.

This is a dive I will do again when I am in the area.

We took a 65 minute break and hit a drift dive for our second tank. This was strong current in about 60 ft depth. We followed a wall. Pretty cool coral, rock and sea life. This was fun as you feel like your flying as the current moves you along. I had 41 minutes of bottom time and floated to 15 ft for my safety stop. Im certain I drifted a long ways on the safety stop.

Both dives had really good visibility.

I LOVE EAGLE RAYS!!!! I think I would just die happy to watch that many for that long in one place.

Not fond of wreck diving, I did Kittiwake in GCM. Berwyn, Eilon, C-Trek and Fox in Carlisle Bay BGI which were at very shallow depths. The one is snorkle depth and it is pretty cool to dive a circle of them. SS Stavronikita was 120 feet. The Stav was the only one I'd care to repeat.
