  • Free price alerts on electronics and appliances

If you know the make and model of an appliance or TV or audio component you are interested in, you can use a site called bountii dot com to track drops in price. They will email you each time there is a price drop until you cancel the alert.

I have used them three times now. I saved $50 on a Sony Reciever and an LG Blu-Ray and lots more than that on my Panasonic TV.

If you know what you want and you know what you want to pay for it and you are not in a hurry, this site will save you money.

    Wow!

Excellent prices! I priced a fancy led Samsung 32" HDTV, kind of a dream and regular retail was $1500 and the site had it down to $949 with no tax and no cost to ship ground with an unknown(to me) company, but it was rated highly with the stars. Great information. Have you had any luck taking such information to a more local vendor to see if they'll price match? I had success doing that with a list of large appliances with a locally known and reputable company. I can't say I had the same success with going through a local carpet vendor with a subpar installer. Thanks for the info! garyd210

I haven't tried. There is only one vendor around here that I think would bite on something like that and they are not very close to where I live. I rarely pay for shipping when I shop online unless the total price adds up to the price I was looking to pay. Based on that, there is no need to get in the car and then negotiate with a salesperson who is not happy to deal with an educated consumer.
