Good for you. Can I have a slice?

I just reviewed all the emails and none of them say you have to order online.

Just for others' benefit . . . they sent the winners an email on which you had to "click here" to claim your prize>>>On the next page you enter your email address, and a non-spam code, and click again>>>the next page gave what you are talking about, a choice to email the code to yourself, print it, or order (online).

Since I did not want to order, and was not at my printer, I opted to send an email to myself. You know, I bet I'm not the only who did not order on the spot, and either printed the code or sent myself an email.

The email did not say you had to order online (which could explain why we could not get through to customer service), so we just made a trip up to Venice today.

That's where we were told we had to order online, because you have to put your code in the promo box, and the stores cannot do that.

    So, there ya go.

    or don't go.

& now you know, so there'll be no excuses for the resta youse

just came back to add that what I did, print the coupon with the code and took it to the restaurant (store), is what I do with all restaurant coupons . . . chili's, ruby tuesday, etc. . . . and this is the first time one has not worked that way

Seems like Papa John's facebook page is anticipating problems:

      Some other bad signs:

Check out the hammering they are getting on twitter about mishandling this promotion. http://twitter.com/#!/search/freepapajohns (since then partially censored?)

(negative stuff seems to be gone now)

I spoke to PAPA John’s customer relations & they want to be aware of the problems because they are passing them on to eprize the company managing (POORLY) this promotion for Papa John

Here is the number for eprize: http://www.eprize.com/
      contact # (877) XXX-XXXX
CEO of eprize is MATT WISE..you can leave a message/complaint for him using the name directory.
In good faith, those of us who signed up for this promo, we are entitled to the free pizza.

I guess since papa rewards is a rewards program based on online ordering (and redemption of rewards) they figured they didn't need to mention it on a contest based on being a member.

Earn Free Pizza with Papa Rewards @papajohns.com
Enroll in Papa rewards and get free pizza fast. You will earn reward points every time you order online at papajohns.com automatically. It's that easy.

Earn 1 point for every $5 you spend, including tax and delivery, on every purchase at papajohns.com.

Receive bonus or double points for advertised specials throughout the year.

Redeem your rewards points for a free large up to three topping pizza* when you have accumulated 25 points. When you are ready to order your free pizza, login and enter 25PAPA in the promo code field and enjoy.

Remember, points earned on an order can be redeemed beginning
the business day following your order completion.

            Yup.

They coulda said it more clearly, though.

Funny, I have a Ruby Tuesday coupon email right now, and it is like all the restuarant coupons we have ever used . . . print it and take it to the restaurant. We are creatures of habit.

The redemption email said, "You are one step away . . . " and then gave one three choices to click . . . Print Coupon, Send Yourself An Email, and Order.

Actually, it is One Step only if you Ordered at that point.

The email I sent myself said:

            Hello,
Congratulations on winning the coin toss!
Your code is: (deleted) Make sure to redeem it by March 4, 2012 for your free large pizza and Pepsi MAX!
            Enjoy! Papa John's

Nothing about ordering online. After that, that's the only thing I had to go by.

So, sure, I just picked the wrong choice, but I don't appear to be the only one.

The problem is simple. Restaurants, pizza chains, etc. that use coupons, allow their local places to redeem them. PJ's did not in this case.

Even those who call in their orders, if they do not mention they are redeeming the coin-toss coupons, will find a bill waiting for them when they pick their pizzas up or have them delivered.

As far as ordering online, yes, the promotion was designed to sign folks up, both to an online account and the rewards program. So, many are first-time online orders. Even when we got to that point, it was problematic. There was no coin-toss redemption on their site, just their normal ordering system, and no instructions to enter the code in the promo code box. Even the guy in the store could not figure out what I needed to do when I showed him our order, and it said we owed money.

Then, when ordering failed, they had no way to offer assistance.

Their customer assistance has just resent the stuff they sent us in the first place, with no concern as to why we cannot get our online order to process.

Others on the Internet are saying PJs contracted this out to a third party, and they dropped the ball.

              Stuff happens.

              Have a sunny day.

Others made assumptions. In this case, this person thought the first email was what they would need when it came time to order. Fortunately, they opened in time to see that they had to take another step by today, to qualify:

Are you a Papa John’s Rewards member who participated in the Super Bowl Coin Toss promotion? I just went to grab my Free Pizza and 2 Litter of Pepsi Max offer and saw this info: Get your promo code by February 19, 2012 and redeem by March 4, 2012. I had originally assumed the e-mail I got saying I “won” was what I needed to order the pizza. But there is another step! You must first “claim” your pizza by 2/19! If you haven’t done this yet, head on over to this Papa Johns’s Super Bowl Coin Toss web site, and enter the e-mail associated with your Papa Rewards account. You will then be given your unique claim code and the option of printing it or having it emailed to you.

Whew! Would hate to have you miss out on such a great offer.

Again, when you deal with millions of people, you have to assume there are at least two dufuses in the bunch, so you have to spell things out better.

After today, the last day to "redeem", we should be able to see how many pizzas are being given away. The Internet is saying a million in the promos during the playoff, and millions more from the coin-toss.

I ordered and picked ours up.

Except for the "You owe us $14.42," everything went fine.

I got in uncut (we I suggested they add to their online order form), and we will have it later.

Are you saying that you eat a whole pizza in one giant slice? In NYC you can get some pretty big slices but even they are maybe 1/4 of a pie. You're going to have to post a picture for us.
