I canceled my AARP membership last year after being a member for 20 years and joined AMAC instead.

I stop renewing three years ago as I found no use for it. They give you offers everyday in the mail to buy insurance products and pricing not cheap like the always state. When you renew they send you some cheap ear phone type radio that never works. After throwing two away I sent them a letter telling them about the junk they send and they sent another one that didn't work.
They always list options to use the vacation hotel discounts like the ones you get from AAA insurance and many other sites. Save 50% on hotel listings then you find this is worthless too, I called and spoke to a hotel manager after trying this couple times with no results. He told me AARP members do get discounts but the discount based on full amount and no one these days pays full amount. They also only have couple smaller rooms in mostly off time for AARP.
AARP has sent me renew cards about evey three months since I left because after everything else they can't except no as a answer!

Abiut every hotel will give you a senior discount without belonging to AARP.
