SFX has it listed as Cancun (Mayan Palace, Riviera Maya) but in actuallity it is located on the island of Cozumel. Still it is a free vacation accomodation and the 35 mile drive should not be a bother for something free. In fact it was not a problem to the person I gifted it to.

Now you have me totally confused. The Royal Mayan is in Cancun period. It is not in the Riviera Maya nor Cozumel. The Mayan Palace is in the Riviera Maya, not Cozumel. So which resort are you referring to? I have stayed at both the Royal Mayan and the Grand Mayan ( Mayan Palace ) so I know exactly where they are.

I believe the reason for the confusion is that the Title of this post states Royal Mayan, which is in Cancun vs. Mayan Palace in Mayan Riviera from your confirmation. Either place is great for whoever got your freebie.

Exactly what my guest said! And he was lucky to get FF tickets for he and his DW!

Now to figure out what to do with my March week on Crete

              Joy,
A public thank you for your generosity....
My wife and I are very appreciative!!!
Unfortuately for us, our FF usage requires us to stay in Cancun
3 extra days to use miles ( Poor us, uh??? )
Can anyone suggest a reasonablably priced hotel or resort that I should look into to stay those additional 3 nights???
I have some Fairfield FSP points which I can use with Wyndham or convert to RCI points for nightly stay, but from what I have read,
because of housekeeping and other fees, this is type of usage not very cost effective for short stays. Any feedback greatly apprecative.
And again, Joy, thank you very much!!!!
              Kind regards,
              Paul

If you are a RCI or SFX member, you might check the last minute weekly rentals & sell-off lists. Although you don't need 7 days, the weekly rental might still be a lower cost. Hotels.com has a few for less than $100/night (I checked 1/12-14, bur not sure which end of the trip you needed 3 days). You might also check out the owners referral link in TS4MS to see if any opportunities exist.

The Marriott Courtyard Cancun has rates of $107 for AAA member, even using my employee family discount I cannot do any better.

Go to Crete and spoil yourself (even if it means leaving DH at home ). Meanwhile, get Paul to take lots of photos of his lovely holiday and you take them to share with the volunteer fundraising committee

                      Carol,

I'm going to Crete for 2 weeks in September...that's why DH thinks I'm off balance! I have Sedona next week, San Francisco in August and Crete in September...I only get so much vacation time. If I do Crete in March it is without vacation time (no payroll) and I would like to not go alone!

Exactly!! It is the title of the thread that is incorrect.

Sorry John, I made an error (not my first, and likely not my last), but the person who is going is thrilled either way! After all, that was what was important, wasn't it?

There is no need to apologize. It happens to the best of us. Yes, the person going there will be thrilled.
