  • Pass the Mineral Ice....I got DUMPED today!

Today was the last hunter pace of the season. Three of the five of us went to an Elk's dinner dance Saturday night, which is an annual fund raiser for injured service men to help defray medical costs. Always a lot of fun, dancing food, friends, raffles. I think we may have howled a little too much at the moon; but we got up and got the horses on the truck on time this morning.

I was riding my friend's little buckskin again today and he was just beside himself excited. Throwing bucks all the way to the start point. I decided to just trot him out a bit get rid of the feistiness. I didn't get 100 yards from our "group" when that little beast ducked out spun and bucked. He is a quick one! Lost my balance and right over his shoulder I went and loose he went bucking like crazy.

Long story short, I didn't ride the pace as he was high as a kite. I have a nice bruised shoulder and he is back to his nickname "LB" (little ba$tard). I'm not overly worried about it as I was due. I haven't been unseated since 97 or 98 but spoiled my ride for the day.

Sorry you were unseated--what a great cause to be riding for. (Also, glad you are back riding again; that must be a very good feeling, indeed.)

You make it sound like it was no big deal, and I am certain that it is a lot more scary (to us, not you) than how you report it...take care of that bruised shoulder, and if it seems slow in healing, be sure to see a doc to make sure it is just a bruise and nothing "hidden." Meanwhile, I am happy for you that you are enjoying your passion again (another one of your passions, I mean)...

I can see this scene happening right in front of me but I am glad that you are not hurt. What's up with these horses? Be careful Lawren!

Glad that you're OK, although it still sounds scary enough to me.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

                            Lawren,
Someone is just going to have to give those horses riding lessons.

I hope your injuries are minimal , at best. Happy healing.
