  • How do I plan on making a move to S.C.

We built a house in Sun City, and have had it rented. This is what we are trying to figure out. We want to furnish the house down south, but continue to keep our house in NY. So I would need to furnish the SC totally. I want light colored furniture, and need to look somewhere besides where the house is because I have looked in that area, and did not find anything I like. This summer I am going to look at the NC outlets. Does anyone know where else I can go that I might be able to stay in a timeshare close by? Maybe Florida? Otherwise, I guess we would have to get a motel room so we can shop.

Ann, most people go to High Point to shop for furniture. The most popular place is Furnitureland South. They have a outlet store there also but it is most widely known for having to order as is everyone else. You may be able to get a catalogue and browse thru it or check on line. I sent another tugger there and she had an excellent experience plus she worked with a good friend of mine named Randy but he is not there anymore from what I understand.

There are no ts near there or none really close to the ones in the mountains. They have outlets in Morganton or Hickory. I'd just priceline a hotel for a few days. The hotels here are not nearly as expensive as in other places. shaggy

Ann - you could even furnish by going on-line. We purchase quite a bit of furniture from Discount Furniture - Furnitureland South it is in high point - shipping is VERY inexpensive (this month it is free). Check out the website, then call and ask to speak with CHRISTINA in sales. She is wonderful. YOu may be able to do a lot of the work without ever leaving your house up north.

Thanks for the replies. I am having an anxiety attack even thinking about buying so much furniture. I can't imagine just ordering out of a catalog! I am going to make a stop this summer on our drive home from Atlanta.

Ann-Marie, did you go to Haverty's? I got my bedroom set there. I had looked in the store first and saw a set I liked. When I went back, they no longer had it on the floor so I went online, picked out the pieces I wanted and then went back to the store to buy them. The furniture comes from their warehouse in Atlanta. When I needed a kitchen set, I looked online, found what I wanted and then went to the store and purchased it. They did have it so I could see it before I bought it. I work with a great salesman who lives in Sun City. If you want his name let me know.

Thanks everyone. My DH and I went to every furniture store that we knew of when we did our last trip to HHI. I did not see what I really wanted. I bought my NY furniture 36 years ago, and have not bought anything since except 2 new sofas and my children's bedroom set. I need to look at it before I buy, especially since everything I have is Drexal Heritage, and I don't think I can spend that kind of money on a second house. I think I will try the NC outlets this summer.

Am I better off just planning on going to High Point, or should we try both places?

I was thinking maybe we would leave Atlanta and go to Hickory. Then stay the night and head to High Point the next day.
