  • Useless whining? or consumer actiivist?

For years, my DH has complained about this or that product and its failure or problem...and I would smile and say, "well, if you are not happy with the product, call the company." And yet, he never did.

I called it the "useless whine".

I mean, why tell me? I can only sympathize, but I certainly wasn't going to be the one to give the company a call. I do my own calls when I have a consumer complaint...and why shouldn't he make the call if he is having the problem?

Well, today, he made 2 calls to 2 different companies, and I think he felt empowered. One company advised him how he can get a replacement part if he met certain criteria, and the second one is sending him a check for $10 and a coupon for $10. All in all, he feels that he got some good feedback by taking the action.

I applaud him for finally doing what every consumer has the right to do....to tell a company when it is failing or not living up to its claims.

Do you know someone who has a "useless whine"?
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

Yes, my husband, but it's usually operator error.

um, my boss is a useless whiner. too many of my cohorts, actually.

some people just like to have something to gripe about instead of fixing the problem.
