In the snail mail I've recently received paperwork from The Disney Movie Club and Gevalia Coffee with letters saying how glad they are that I've joined them and could I please send them my correct credit card info because the one ending in XXXX can't be confirmed or charged. XXXX is not even close to one of my cards.

I think that they are generating these letters to dupe the snail mail recipient into thinking some other family member has initiated the request. No one at my house has, even though Bella would neither confirm nor deny having been on the computer with DMC on 13Feb. Bella is my mutt.

    What do you think?

I got something from Gevalia the other day, but I tossed it without opening it. I know we've had issues with local newspapers hounding us with bills after delivering the paper unsolicited.

I guess they don't call it "bottom line" for nothing.

I do think they expect someone to assume that they either forgot about it or, as you said, that someone else in the household signed up for it. Clever.

I constantly get mail from eBay remind me that my account has some payment to me need to check in. The issue is, those are not my account. And I know for sure I don't have any possible transactions. At first I just send it to eBay, now I just delete them.

I got similar email from some of the bank claim I need to login. Some I even has real account with them. But none actually has the right account. Or they have the right link. I still try to forward these to the bank. But some banks are very hard to find link to report spam, I take that as they really don't care about their reputation.

JN, the subject is snail mail, not the plethora of email scams that abound. When called, I really do have a bogus account with the businesses and Disney Movie was about to ship my selection, even without the valid credit card they wanted so bad!
