  • Walking for Autism

On April 17, 2010 I will be participating in a 5K Walk Now for Autism Speaks to help find a cure for autism. Autism is the second most common developmental disorder in the United States affecting one in every 110 children born today. My nephew Matthew has Aspergers and my friend Sharlyn's grandson was diagnosed with autism at age 3. Despite some promising discoveries, the cause of autism is unknown and a cure does not exist. Research is crucial. Every 20 minutes another child is diagnosed with autism. Not only must we find ways to improve the quality of life for children and adults with autism, but we also must find a cure, and soon.

If you would like to support me in my walk, please go to 2010 Walk Now for Autism Speaks: Lehigh Valley - General Donation

    TIA.

    Pat, I appreciate your walking.
I have no direct connection but have several friends whose children have Aspergers and I am donating with not only you but them in mind. Happy to support your cause
    Hope the weather is nice.

You are generous to take on the commitment. I hope you raise a lot of $ for this worthy cause, and I'm also sending wishes for good weather and a big turnout along with my donation.

Good luck, Pat! I did an autism walk a few years ago and every donation was really exciting. Some of my friends could only give a few dollars, and I appreciated those donations so much because I knew they really came from the heart. Have a good walk, and thanks for your generosity.

I have a daughter with autism and have donated to the Walk for many years now. I hope that someday there will be a cure - or at least better treatments and preventions. Thank you for taking your time to support Autism research. May you have a sunny, warm (not too hot) day.

Unfortunately it's supposed to be rainy, cool and windy tomorrow so I'll dress warm and wear a windbreaker with a hood to keep me dry.

Your good wishes must have worked. The sun is shining with no rain clouds in sight!

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.
