  • Do you have a favorite piece of luggage?

We have so many pieces of luggage, having shopped for brands and sizes thru the years to adapt to the trip ahead or the changes in airline requirements.

We have owned high-end and no name generics. Samsonite, Travelpro, American Flyer, Delsey, Ricardo, just about all of them it seems.

    But...

Lately, our go to brand has been a carryon bag, generic, flat and totally un-fancy. It is something we bought for around $20 at a local department store.

It forces compact and careful packing, and it is so lightweight.

    What is your favorite luggage?
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

I try not to get too attached to my luggage as the airlines seem to like to destroy it.

I wanted to circle the damage and write in big marker by it NWA or Delta and the date. It won't change anything, but I certainly will know which bag is mine.

We seem to have gone from the suitcase to the rolling duffle bags. I don't know why, I just do what my wife tells me I can do.

I think my Travel Pro is most likely the best piece of luggage I own as far as being compact, light weight, various compartments, etc. However, I recently purchased the most adorable black & white pock-a-dot luggage, in an effort to be able to find my bag without having to look through 100 others.

I've put ribbons & bows on my luggage, along with colored belts, etc.....Problem is so does everyone else. I'm hoping that I won't have any problem with my new bag.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I really like the packing cubes by eBags. Those little things hold an amazing amount of stuff and are very sturdy. Tops in one, shorts in another, undies in another and you are just about packed. When you arrive at the resort, take the whole cube out, put it in a drawer and unzip it. Voila. Unpacked.

I just bought a Travel Pro to replace my former "favorite" $15 suitcase I'd gotten on eBay. The airline managed to somehow destroy the bottom piece of the suitcase. I must say it lasted quite awhile for such an inexpensive piece of luggage. I'm hoping the more expensive Travel Pro lasts as long.

We have two Jansport rolling suitcases that I like. They're brown with a pattern of blue flowers, the frame is very sturdy, they expand, and they have adorable blue spinner wheels that match the blue of the flowers exactly.

Angela, from November to March I took 5 airline trips and NOT ONCE did I see a black and white poka-dot bag - I think u will be able to find it.

My new bag is 25 inches in a black/grey pattern with 4 rolley wheels on the bottom making it very easy to push.

But I an determined to get the squishy rolling duffle for my European trip.

Pat, I have several squishy rolling duffels you could borrow if you like. I like those, too, because you can fit a ton into them!

Packing Cubes rock! Don't even get me started. I am a die hard fanatic. I pack each family member in their own color. Keeps the bags tidy and organized and easy to move one "cube" to another. Keep me organized when packing and at the hotel. They are especially great when there is not enough drawer space. I just stack them up neatly on the desk or dresser. One pile for each child.

Also, if TSA searches your luggage, everything does not get all disheveled....love, love, packing cubes. I have spent years trying different packing techniques....and this is bar far the most stress free and orderly for my family. Easy to tell the kids, go get your blue shirt....it's in your medium green cube. they know where to get things and put them back.

Ok...so as for luggage....my latest is LL Bean rolling duffles. I pack the whoel family in 1 or 2 depending on the destination. I have a great set in bright LIME green ( medium, large, extra large). Fantastic...always can ID our luggage on the carousel. I just throw the packing cubes in and I am good to go. If for some reason, I am overweight, it is so easy to take out or switch a packing cube from one bag to another.

AS for favorite carry on....I let the kids pack their blankies and stuffed animals ( that I would never trust to check) in the medium rolling duffel..
Then, my new favorite it the Ebags carry-on rolling Motherlode ( kind of like a duffel with 3 sections ( or just one big one if you need the flexibilty). Nice compartments, but not so many that it is hard to organize. I can pack my camera and things I don't need to get to while traveling in the bottom portion and my computer and snacks for the kids easily accessible in the top sections. I do not like carrying anything on my shoulders....3 young kids and I often end up carrying somebody. I hate to be weighted down and the kids can even roll it if nec.

I feel as though I have finally found the perfect mix of luggage for us. I also like the rolling duffels because they do not take up much storage room and all fit inside one another.

I like to sail through the airport with grace, despite 3 kids in tow. If you see a sea of lime green luggage...you will know it is me.

My favorite is a 24" hard-sided Heys. At less than 5 lbs, I can easily lift it in the overhead and up and down stairways for the train. I always thought that the softer the bag, the more expandable, but this suitcase holds an enormous amount. And it has those amazing spinner wheels that can allow you to roll front, back, sideways and upright.

And even more wonderful, I picked-it up cheap on eBags!

                              A 24 goes overhead or a 22?
