I put underwear and pajamas in one. It depends on where you are going and how you organize your packing. I like to put pants in the larger, shirts in the medium and underwear and pajamas in small. Then another one for swimthings. If we are packing pressed shirts... I might mix it up and slip those into the big one.
I now pack them in Rolling duffels with no other compartments. But I have packed them in huge 35+" rolling hard sided suitcases to 22" roll-a boards....Work fine in all, but I just like the versatility of the duffels. Too many compartments just means I am digging through a million pockets to figure out where I stashed items and then I still have to put items in something new when I get to my destination. With cubes, everything stays in what I originally packed it in so it is easier to stay organized and remember where things are. Easier for everyone, even the kids can find their things.
