I hate car shopping. Have almost always leased, so I end up needing something every three years. The times when I've gotten a four year lease, I've wanted to get out of the car early, and when I've had a three year lease, I've usually been sorry when it's up.
This time I had a three year/36000 mile lease on my second Honda Accord. I just love that car. My lease isn't up until September, but it's gotten a lot of use so it's out of miles (I literally have one mile left before the warranty expires and I start getting charged by the mile to drive it). Extended warranties are available, but didn't seem cost effective. It's also got quite a bit of wear and tear...
So I went to the Honda dealer and priced a new Accord. I would've leased one except they changed the headrests in 2008 and now the seats are uncomfortable for me (as are the seats in almost every other car I've tried). Instead, I decided to buy a used 2007 Accord, same model/options/mileage as what I'm giving up. It's the only car I really love to drive.
I might have shopped around, but they kept me there so long it was torture, so I just bought the one they had. I feel like I failed at a timeshare presentation
I'm sure I overpaid, but they are taking over my last three lease payments, and taking care of all the body damage on my existing car. The one I'm getting has been fully detailed, has new tires, etc... as it is "dealer certified." It also comes with a year of full warranty. And I'm financing it so my payments will be less than my old lease payment.
I refuse to check Bluebook value, as I know it will be aggravating. And I am going to look for a 2007 Accord headrest to keep in storage for when I eventually have to go to the newer model - it turns out they are interchangeable!
My only other regret is the full tank of gas I'll be returning it with
Especially since we walked to dinner last night rather than risk any further incidents before turning the old car back
