  • Flat tire question

So it looks like my three non-flat tires all have black rubber caps on the air valves, but the one on the flat tire is missing... do you think the tire just needs filling and a new cap?

I really don't have time to deal with this

Put air in the tire and see what happens and look for small nails in it, if you take to a good tire shop they might be able to tell you what the problem might be and put a cap back on.

Simply missing the valve cap shouldn't cause the flat. I'm guessing that you ran over a nail and you can just get it plugged.

I will see if my local place is open in the morning. I'm just glad it happened overnight and not on my 4 hour drive home yesterday in the pouring rain.

Please patch your tire from the inside and do not let the tire guy plug your tire. The major tire makers are now saying the patch is better and safer.

This is so True. Patch is the way to go. The service stations however will just plug it.

If you go to a tire shop they will patch if it is not too close to the sidewall. I get my tires from Costco and they will always patch.

              Patch, not plug. Got it.
Thanks everyone. Still haven't taken it in, I'm waiting for a tire change first

It is very common to pick up something when it is raining.

today I borrowed a car, and it had pieces of tar road patches stuck in the tires because it's been so friggin hot here. Got rid of that and find out (after it's too late to turn back since I'd promised DS and his friends a beach day) that the A/C was broken in the borrowed car. It's 1000 degrees today.

I am having some very bad Carma this weekend.

I know the feeling my A/C went out this afternoon in my auto with a temp of 99% at 1:00 PM.
