    Visiting Mom

WE are in phase 3 of our house remodel so they will be changing the electrical panel on Saturday and painting the master bedroom so we will go visit my 87 year old Mom. I feel like I'm being kicked out of my own house.
Contractor doing many of the upgrades now and the master bath in Oct. when we will not have to deal with it.

May all who work and their families...

have a day of rest and enjoyment.

As far as the whole weekend, yesterday Dan and I finished erecting the split rail fence that we commenced last fall (around the out-lawn).

Today we all lased around, messed on the PCs. Chatted about remodeling projects and timeshare places. Finished this evening with steak off the grill, tossed salad and blanched fresh green beans (coated with soy sauce and lime juice).

Labor Day will be a holiday similar to most others days since retirement. I may or may not do much. But then, since it is a holiday in sorts to recognize working folk, I'll most likely honor them by not doing work.

I hope they can do likewise.
          Robert

            Going for it.

Road trip to seek my fortune (yesterday), back home to host a cookout for closest of friends (tonight), calling friends and family I want to connect with (tomorrow).

            Life is good!

I spent Sunday of the holiday weekend with over 210,000 of my closest friends at the MN state fair. From 'home to home' it was a 10 hour day, and if my pedometer was close, we walked over 11 miles. It was probably high as you can't take normal strides in that type of crowd.

My wife was actually kind of unhappy that we didn't get any food 'on a stick' so she could take a picture of it for her scrapbook pages. She did take lots of other pictures for scrapbooking and is now convinced that next year, she will enter something in the fair competition from her scrapbook page selection.

Final numbers for the MN state fair, 1.776 Million people for the 12 days. Three days had new attendance records, but the total was just 14,000 short of a record.

                  Labor Day

I spent friggin' Labor Day at the state capitol, having a committee meeting on Tuesday and not wanting to make the 4-hour drive in the early Tuesday AM.
