I do not go out of my way but if I see a speciality dog store I will pick up a nice chew toy for my dog. Today I got him a mini rawhide hot dog. You had to see him playing around with it until it was done. I think he some times looks forward for my return just because I some times bring him back something.

Frank,
I shop for my dog all the time....even when I am on vacation. If I see a 'doggie' store, I always go in, and see what goodies I can find for her.
My dog is small, and a female, so I love to buy her cute little bows, coats, and fancy collars & chain sets......Angela

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Carrots and apples don't transport well. Merlot doesn't care for peppermints, although many horses do. Neither do crickets for the leopard gecko.
I do look for those little genuine rabbit fur catnip mice though. They are getting very hard to find and the TAZ will only play and fetch the genuine article.Lawren

Hi Frank,
Yes, if I go on a long trip (more than a week), I try to bring home presents for my two dogs. On my recent trip to Hilton Head Island, I bought a stuffed lobster squeaky toy for my little girl dog and a plastic lighthouse squeaky toy for my boy dog. There is a great pet store in Coligny Plaza if you are ever on Hilton Head. It's fun to bring home presents for my dogs.

We were in the Coligny Plaza last summer, and yes, it is a great 'doggie' store. We also brought back presents for our dog from there.....Angela

hahaha...don't feel too badly.
To tell you the truth, I bring my dog back stuff all the time, and I hardly ever bring back stuff for my cat. My cat just doesn't seem to be interested in any of it.
I have even stopped making him a holiday basket of goodies like I do for my dog. My dog gets so excited that is so much fun watching her go through the stuff. My cat....just can't be bothered with any of it....He does however like cat treats......Angela

I bring my grandcats back toys but they usually ignore them.
I used to bring my dad's greyhound toys but he much preferred any kind of toy that belonged to the grandkids. I don't know if it was their scent on them or what but he would take them in his cage and use his paws to stuff them all under his body. He did the same with any paper money he could find so I don't know what that meant.

Our animals would greet us at the door when we would come home from vacation. Our dog wasn't interested in any toys because all she wanted was going on a walk with us the moment we came home.
She had her favorite toys and knew them all by name. Animals are amazing! Our cats liked playing with a feather at the end of a stick which was the same old toy. I still have it today. The toys we would bring home would only interest them for two minutes and that was it. Cats like brown bags and playing hide and seek.
All we had to do and still do today is open a jar of baby food and give them a treat of that. They would sit in a row and wait their turn. I have many pictures of that but this is the only one I can find so quickly. I don't know how old it is but we still have Taffy, the red cat?

ABSOLUTELY!!!
I have no skinkids, so the furkid gets the souvenirs. We happened across a nice pet store in the Canaries and I brought her back what amounted to a chocolate bar for doggies.
Mostly, she's happy to see us, doing her squeaky "I missed you soooo much" thing, but her enthusiasm when we whip out something for her is priceless. Gracie is a wonderful girl.
I sometimes do this at home, too, especially if she's waiting in the car. We're going to buy treats, anyway, might as well get them while she's with me!
When she was younger and we were training for agility, sometimes I'd make dog treats (tuna brownies are THE BEST TRAINING TREAT EVER!) and she would lie down by the oven, waiting. OK, maybe it sounds nuts to MAKE dog treats, but, in training, you blow thru A LOT of them, and it was extremely cheap and easy to whip up a batch of something that was guaranteed to keep her attention. I shared them with people whose dogs were just not interested in listening to their owners, and like magic, dogs obeyed!
Happily, now, she'll work for treats OR love! I think it's a border collie thing, sweet and sensitive.
shoot, get me talking about my dog and I'll fill up the board!

I buy toys for at the store our youngest Lab (15 mo) because she loves to play with her toys all the time, but our old girl (12 yo.) could care less and never played much with toys. When we go away they are just happy to see us UNLESS they have spent the time with our son & daughter the whole time. They play with our dogs far more than we do...and they teach them all sorts of tricks..some good, some bad...like Peg taught our old girl to steal treats out of the cupboard when we opened it. So we had to 'untrain' her from doing that.
