  • Remind me why I moved to SC!

The big reason was for warmer weather. Right now it's 27 in Bluffton, SC and 29 in the Poconos where I moved from. What's wrong with this picture?

Is that unusual for your part of SC this time of year? I mean, I've been to Virginia in winter and it's farther south than NJ, but it's not exactly balmy down there. What is the weather in SC supposed to be like in December?

P.S. That's a heat wave for the Poconos!

Very unusual for this far south. 29 in early Dec is even cold for the Poconos but it's definitely not supposed to be warmer in PA than here in SC. I'm leaving Sunday for NJ/PA for 2-3 weeks and it's looking even colder. Maybe I need to move to Mexico!

The ski report at camelback mountain in PA said they have had 18 inches of snow in the last 72 hours. At least you aren't shoveling (yet).

Don't feel bad. I'm in Orlando now and we're expecting frost and possibly high 20's low 30's tonight so I don't think it's just SC.

It's 40 now and we had the heat on for a little while.

Maybe they MADE 18" of snow? No big snow falls up there yet.

Crazy, isn't it? I've had the heat on for several days.

Pat you know this is probably just a little glitch to welcome you to SC.
It will be better soon and infinitely better than living up here overall.

Just remember -- you will not, repeat not, get any 30" snow storms this winter. I can't guarantee that for me.

                    30 inches

Now I know why Mom moved down here and dragged us with her.

There were blizzard-like conditions and traffic snarls on Rte 80 a few days ago - bet you don't miss that! The real-feel temp in Lake Ariel (where we have our vacation home) is going to be 0 degrees tonight. At least the cold you have is only temporary. We're just into the start of the cold and snow here in PA.

                        Weekend Winter Storm Looms

Weekend Winter Storm Looms - weather.com

For now, here's a general outlook by region:

Midwest: Snow moves out of the Missouri Valley and Upper Midwest, intensifying into heavy, wind-driven snow in either the western Great Lakes or mid-Mississippi/Ohio Valleys Saturday night, continuing into Sunday, depending on the exact track of the surface low. A period of sleet or freezing rain also possible in the Ohio Valley Saturday. Major travel disruption seems likely!

Northeast: Precipitation may start as either snow, sleet or freezing rain Saturday night into early Sunday, mainly inland of I-95. Some icing is possible from western VA into Upstate New York and northern New England. That said, a changeover to rain is expected, particularly near the coast Sunday. However, locations from western New York through the Appalachians may quickly change back to heavy, wind-driven snow later Sunday through early next week. Major travel disruption possible!

Southeast: Severe weather threat looks limited, due to a lack of warm, moist air penetrating northward from the Gulf of Mexico. Some t-storms may bear watching near the Gulf Coast Saturday, then again late Saturday night into Sunday from the Carolina coast into Florida. More snow is expected for the Smoky Mountains and also possibly parts of Tennessee and Kentucky Sunday into perhaps Monday.

It may be cold but like others have said you shouldn't be shoveling.

Have you check the feel like temp?

Nothing wrong, it just a cold Winter early morning and late evening coming. The temp after the sun come up feels quite different.

I won't complain anymore. My SIL posted on FB that his toothpaste froze and he's in Afghanistan! He was supposed to return home yesterday but they keep pushing back the date. Hope he makes it home in time for Christmas.
