  • How are you celebrating New Year's Eve....

Not sure what we're doing this year. Everyone in my house is sick, and looking out at the snow doesn't give me the incentive to want to do anything.

Just wondering what everyone else is doing on New Year's Eve?

BTW......For all of you that will be enjoying a warm climate, I'm very jealous!

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Babysitting 2 Grands from Wed evening until Sunday evening. Parents going to Nashville for a concert and then a NYE party. Haven't celebrated NYE for many years and it doesn't bother me a bit. The Grands are enough fun.

Sunday and Monday nights will be at Borgata with a TS4ms friend.

We go to my BIL because the kids go right to bed after the ball drops. We have a tradition thay we started which is get the deep fryer out and make Calzones, Fried Pizza and man is it great, Rice balls my SIL makes the best. Zeppoles this year but in the past we bring back Beignet mix from NOLa and make them. We have also made Empanada's in the past. Not sure what new things they have planed all I know it takes about 3 weeks of dieting to reverse the damage done on the New tears eve meal.

What ever happened to party all night at a club?

Also spending a quiet evening. I may stop in for a toast at midnight with friends nearby. I was thinking about going into the city but it's too much of hassle getting around, not worth it.

DS is going to a concert in the city with friends. I don't know how they are going to manage getting home, but they are young and carefree...

We will be staying at home. We have 8 different invitations this year from Casinos in Las Vegas and Southern California for New Years with accommodations, party and food all comped. We used to do these but now far prefer to avoid the crowds and spend a quiet evening at home. We don't go anywhere during Holiday periods.

The last time we went somewhere for New Years was 3 years ago when we did the Official Tournament of Roses tour. It was awesome and I highly recommend it. It included 4 nights at the Westin Hotel in Pasadena, The Rose Parade ( awesome seats ), the Rose Bowl Game, Bandfest, pre-parade float viewing watching the floats being built, post-parade float viewing, etc. The was by far our most memorable New Years. If anybody wants to do it, you should do the official tour from the Tournament of Roses organization. It is expensive but you get priority on everything from parade seating to all the events and best accommodations right in Pasadena.

I hope everybody has a very Happy New Year.

We will be starting Armageddon in Honolulu on New Year's eve. This is the last year for fireworks as the City has banned fireworks starting next year. Sad, really. It's one of the best things to experience in Honolulu.

This year we volunteered to babysit for our three grandchildren (all under 3)!

It'll be fun, but if it's anything like xmas eve, we'll be worn out long before midnight

My friend and her husband will join us. Thanks Frank, you gave me a few menu ideas - I haven't made rice balls in a long time!

What a shame! The same thing happened in the town that my DH was brought up in on LI. Every July 4th, there were major fireworks, and barn fires on the beach. It was great! Unfortunately, the town put a stop to it.
