It started here on the Cape late last night, early this morning. We have about 5" and it looks like heavy stuff, not the light fluffy stuff.

Last night on the news (the things that scrolls below on the TV) all schools in our area were closed. Of course my youngest is 29 so no matter!

I told my employer yesterday that if we had a good storm I wasn't coming in. So here I sit, laptop and coffee!

It was also mentioned on the news that the airlines were going to shuttle all planes out of Logan to someplace where it was not snowing, so the airports are again in chaos...big surprise there.

    Anyhow, everyone be safe.

I think I have around 12-14" or so. It's hard to tell because it looks like the backyard has more snow than the front.

NYC schools are open, but I doubt many kids from the burbs will be showing up. Looks like transit is doing OK, but I just don't trust the LIRR with these type of snowfalls.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

We are not as heavy hit yet - seems middle/northern LI has much more then the south shore....Many financial institutions have delayed openings until 10.
Seems all the schools are closed so that will keep a significant amount of traffic off the road.

Looking out the window I'd say about 7 inches. We got off much lighter than the forecast this time. By afternoon it will all be driveable. Don't know about Sara making it in from Boston though. Tonight would be a great night to head over to broadway if you could do it via mass trans.

Got our school robo-call about 7:30pm last night which is much better than alternative 5AM. Alarm cats went off at 6am though and I have yet to find the snooze button on the heavy one.

We only got about five or six inches. I'm trying to convince myself to go to work.

Looks like we have about 5-6, maybe less since it turned to drizzle.

Do a home office day today; I can't see driving a 70 miles round trip not really knowing what's along the way.

We are having really unusual weather, too. It's been raining a lot over the past month. Raining cats and dogs today. For the last two days, I wore sweats and my hands and feet were really cold in the morning. I had to close all the windows. The sad thing is that it was on 63 degrees. My blood has really thinned out.

I REALLY feel for ya J....really (I get to use this one alot!)

It does seem that the worlds' weather patterns are changing - in the greater NYC area, we could go the entire winter with no snow but now....I have started taking travel insurance for my winter vacations because of the airline delays - but even the airlines are catching on and allowing people to change flights without penalty.

LIRR appears to be doing fine (at least on my line) - DS just took the train back this morning. We've got about 8" of very light dry manageable snow. Easy to shovel and plow. I almost had my car out myself when DS showed up to finish.

Overnight we had heavy wet snow but now light fluffy stuff falling - probably 10 inches ++ with drifts.....tonyg is keeping all the snow to himself.

About 18 inches. It's not the heavy wet stuff, thank goodness. DH bought a snow blower the other day, which made the job much easier. He has trouble shoveling since the open heart surgery, his muscles pull too easily. Since we are empty nesters, it is all up to us now. Never any kids in sight walking around looking to make a few bucks.
Anyway, the plows have been around a few times and all is well here.

WoW, I figured from looking at the news that you got a lot more then us - we are maybe at 10-12 inches althought it is still snowing.
