  • School closure tomorrow announced already

This was the first welcome use of the robocaller from the school district:

"Hello, this is Mr. X, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, calling with the message your children having been dreaming about...."

DS is very pleased to have been told before doing his homework, etc... and I will certainly not miss the 5:30 am autodialing we'd have gotten otherwise...

Storm nights are the best nights for theatre - lots of seat upgrades available and donated tickets open up shows that are otherwise difficult to get.

I have tickets to see Sarah McLachlan tomorrow night and I really hope she doesn't cancel - she is playing in Boston tonight

8 - 15 inches in Nassau County, less in Manhattan, possibly more in Suffolk last I heard. The worst part is that we still have all the piled up snow/ice/ick from the last storm so the streets are a mess before we even get started.

              Buffalo might have been better!
You can always go to the theatre instead.

I have tickets for Rain, The Beatles Tribute, tomorrow night. I hope my friends can make it in.

Never thought about getting upgraded seats, do you just ask when you get to the theatre?

                Has anybody seen it yet?

My company sent out a message saying that we'll be open and to talk to your manager if you need to take a vacation day. Snow expected to fall at 1-3 inches per hour during rush hour. Totals of 12-18 inches expected.

Luckily I can work from home and I'm planning to do exactly that.

Ha! Unfortch, my date is not much of a theatre buff, but I may insist if SM cancels.

Yes, when you get there, ask at the box office if there are any better seats available than the ones you have. Roundabout will always honor this if they are able, and I have found it sometimes works at other productions too. It can't hurt to ask!

I haven't heard anything about Rain, looking forward to your review - Enjoy!

2 kids, 4 schools. Have not heard from 2 of them and it's 6AM.
Heard from the other 2 (one THREE times, OK I get it, you're closed ).

I"m guessing the others are closed, but if not, don't think anyone can get there anyway. Maybe 8" of snow and unshoveled driveway/unplowed streets.

Still, strange not to have heard from the HS which usually robocalls @4-5AM.
Makes me think they are open -?

Looked out the window to see somewhere between a foot and two feet of snow and it is still snowing hard. Reports of thunder and lightning here and there around the state. Bradley Int'l is closed this AM. It is supposed to keep snowing until around noon.
