  • Non-stick cookware how long does it last?

I'm trying quite hard to remember when I bought this set of Calphalon Simply Nonstick. I want to say between 8 and 10 years ago.

I have always loved them even though they aren't the high end Calphalon. They cook evenly and I like the no heat handles and glass lids. They have held up well given the amount of work I have given them over the years.

Most of my original set have reached their end of non-stickiness though and time for new. The good news is Macy's has the 14 piece set on sale (plus a bonus 12 inch skillet) for less than what I payed for the 10 piece set way back when. I will probably break down and buy it if no one has a better option in the same price range.

What do you/have you owned and how long has it lasted?

I just read an article about this in the NY Times! (I don't use nonstick pans myself.)

I really like Circulon, too, but necessarily better. As you must know given the longevity of your current set, the trick with non-stick is to avoid high heat, metal utensils, or harsh cleansers/cleaning pads. With proper care, a good set should last a very long time.

        Lawren,

        I love my Calphalon pots!

The higher end ones last longer, but the lower end ones are good, too. I have them both.

I've purchased some higher end ones, one at time, from Tangers outlet. There's a store there that has great prices on them, although its been a while, and I can't remember their name.

I've also gotten lucky, on a higher end one in Marshalls/Home Goods. They carry the lower end ones all the time, and have great prices on them. Doubt you'd can get a whole set tho, they seem to only have individual pieces.

I've also seen them at BJ's & Costco, but can't remember the prices.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Williams-Sonoma Outlet at Tangers has FABULOUS prices - they have the 10 piece set for $399 with a usual 30% off.
It is worth it to go and compare before u buy at Macy's.
On the other hand, with the right coupon Macy's can be dirt cheap!

I have several of the C pots and really like them. DD has picked them - the new Tri-Ply - for her bridal registry.

I ordered them. The funny thing is that they have a 10 year warranty and I'd be willing to bet that is exactly how long they lasted.

When we first got married my wife bought some high end cookware set that was very expensive, It had a double wall stainless steel pots. Any way I hated them bought all Calphalon some 10 years back and they are still like new. I love them better than any other pots and pans we ever bought.

BTW I got most of them off of Amazon.com they put some of them 70% off

My dil has calphalon pots and they are too heavy for me. I can hardly hold one when it is empty. No way can I pour from it. I actually gave them to her for a shower gift because she requested them but at that time (I was younger) I thought they were heavy. She loves them so that is all that counts.

I bought Cook's Essentials from QVC. They are supposed to have a lifetime warrantyI don't think I will like them as well as my calphalon but they were only $100, They seem a little flimsy to me but I do like the way they cook.

I love my calphalon pans. They are very sturdy and hold up well. I think they provide the best, even heating. I've been able to pick up several pieces here and there at the nearby outlet stores. Can't afford a whole set, though. I hand wash them rather than putting them in the dishwasher and dry them immediately. Don't know if this is beneficial for the high-end pans, but it does seem to help for the lower-end ones. One of my pans is shaped like a WOK. It's great because it can double as a pot when cooking stews, sauces. I simply sautee the onions, meat, etc and add the sauce. No need to dirty a second pan. One tip - keep non-cooks away. My DH scratched one of my pans very badly by using a sharp fork and knife to cut some meat he was cooking. The food now sticks in those areas.

Agree!!! My set of T-Fal lasted for more than 11 years -- until adult daughter had to move home. Everytime she cooked, I saw a metal utensil in her hand.
                        hope this info helps,
