We have a fire hydrant and one parking spot in front of our house. I dug out most of the parking spot, leaving one lump of snow over on my neighbor's side, which they did not touch. Now the neighbor is parking EVERY NIGHT in the parking spot in front of our house--NOT in the parking spot in front of HIS house, which has not been dug out.

This would only be mildly irritating if it wasn't for the fact that our street is one way and very, very narrow, and even more narrow right now because of the snow. So he's not just parking on the street...he's parking on my sidewalk! He's totally blocking the walkway. And he has a driveway and a garage!

I suppose handing him a bill for per diem parking isn't in the cards?

        I shoveled 70 or 80 feet of driveway, a new 7 inches.

I'll do the other half tomorrow . . . if I can move.

Probably not wise. I'm just venting. They're so much nicer than the old neighbors!

You are very kind to be able to let it go!!! Glad they are better neighbors then you had before. Bad neighbors can ruin a neighborhood. We had one years ago....not good.

Let's hope this sunny, cold weather stays for awhile with no snow...

Woke up to a dusting of snow this AM. What a surprise! Hadn't heard it was expected. Luckily that was all we got.

Nice. Putted past a bald eagle sitting in a tree on the bluff, and back, and he did not leave. First time that's happened.

I found a 25-pound bag of ice melt at the Korean grocery store for $10 and dragged it home. They just got a pallet in. Averaged against my Amazon ice melt, it's not so bad per pound!

They had huge bags of salt at the restaurant-supply store last week, but that was real salt, which I'd rather not use.

Speaking of salt, for road use around here they have started using beet juice.

                        Beet juice?

                        Yeah, beet juice.

                        Why?

I don't know. Just reporting what they are using.

                        Oh. OK.

Is it red? I'm picturing that scene in Fargo with the wood chipper.

Now that'sinteresting. I heard on the news last week that some places were using pickle brine because it was cheaper than the other salt they use. Maybe they only use pickled beet juice?

Around here they're using salt brine, and they spray it down before the snow falls. They say it's working....
