DH called to tell me that the space shuttle would be in the southwest sky at 7:25 pm. I went out and sure enough, there is was, looking like a slow shooting star but reddish. Being from NY, this was a first time for me!

STS-134 to launch April 19
We just returned from Kennedy Space Center, where we saw the Discovery's final landing.
The next shuttle launch, Endeavor's last trip, is scheduled for April 19. A great area to view the launch is the Cocoa Beach area.
There's a spy rocket launch scheduled from Cape Canaveral tomorrow evening.
And if you do go to Kennedy Space Center, spend the extra bucks for the extended tour. Well worth the money.Jeanne

My BFF's older dd (who I've known since before birth and consider my "first daughter") worked at Kennedy Space Center, first on the launch pad, then on the Safety Council. She is currently head of Safety at a nuclear plant in NH. She took that job when it became obvious she wouldn't have one much longer where she was. I think she is still devastated.
We went back in 2001 to watch a launch, which is when we took the extended tour. She managed to get us free passes to watch the launch on the causeway. What a great experience. Dh and I saw our second launch the weekend of her birthday, we watched on the beach near their condo in Cocoa. Very memorable.Luanne
