  • Another mattress thread - need very plush/soft

W bed is too hard... anyone like anything really cushy that doesn't cost $5K? I really liked the Sleep To Live ultraplush at Sleepy's, but reviews are awful and I don't want to do business with them. I'm trying to find a Stearns and Foster so I can order from TheMattressExpert, but all the ones I've tried - even with pillowtop - are not quite cushiony enough...

Tried to find the mattress I loved at the Manhattan Club Penthouse - epic fail
I may just have to move in there...

I can't believe you can't get that MC Penthouse bed....do you think HK would notice if we just walked that one out?

We've been very pleased with foam toppers on a mattress we liked but wanted a little more "plushness." I know a lot of people who feel their pillow tops crush in a year or two, and with the foam topper, I can easily replace it whenever I don't feel I'm getting the cushion I want. We have a Sleep Number in one house and a Beautyrest in the other, both with thick foam toppers.

I've got one on one bed (actually it may be two layers by now). But I don't want to have to put one on the new bed that is still eligible for a "comfort return." I do think they're a good option for when the pillow top gives out.

I don't know the brand, but I stayed recently at Marriot's Grande Ocean, and the bed was so comfy I took the sheet off to check. They have a very cushy, almost featherbed type mattress pad.
Aside from that, those foam toppers work very nicely, and are almost as nice as a Tempurpedic (or similar) mattress.

Yes, those Marriott beds are dreamy! But there I do think it's the featherbed on top that makes them so great. You can buy them from Marriott.com (I think it's shopmarriott.com) or I believe Pacific Coast makes the featherbeds for Marriott and Renaissance.
