First full day of Spring & its snowing in my town!
We had another 4.4" yesterday bringing our season to 84.4" and the season isn't done. That is our 5th largest snowfall on record. Another .3" would put us into 4th place. I got stuck yesterday for the first time in years, make that decades. And that was at my driveway.
The melting snow is sure causing problems. Roads are closed because of flooding, sandbags are going up at locations on 3 major rivers, Red River (which was designed totally wrong and flows north where it is still frozen), Minnesota River and Mississippi River. All rivers are well above flood stage.
On the very few hours I was home between the Orlando trip and the latest snowfall, I saw crocus popping up. I told them they were too early, but I don't think they listened to me. Now they are under 4" of snow. Probably a good thing as it has been below freezing and won't warm up until sometime next week. The snow will insulate them somewhat.
Yesterday, tho, was GORGEOUS! I spent all day outside doing a bunch of stuff. including bringing wood in for the cold and battening down the hatches! I got a lot done.
turns out, storms weren't much of anything for us here. kept power! YAY! the nasty pockets sailed north and south of us. There's a lot of damage to a few towns around.
the winds yesterday, ALL DAY, were very strong. there was crap breaking and falling from the trees long before the storm clouds showed up.
today is heading for 50 degrees less than yesterday's high. WOW.
this morning was freezy crap. into 40s for a high, down into 20s tonight. I'm not goin out there. I'm savoring having spent yesterday in shorts and tshirt !
Last night we had a mixture of snow, sleet and hail. In the middle of all it we also had thunder and lightning. Weird weather!!
Today we had snow and thunder. Weird weather, indeed!
Last week we had snow on Monday and 80 degree weather on Thursday. This week we had high 70s weather in the early part of the week and snow today. This is what they saw here about St. Louis weather: "If you don't like it, wait a minute."
