  • Neti Pot for nasal congestion

Has anyone else discovered this suddenly popular treatment for nasal congestion/sinus inflammation? It's a saline wash that basically goes up one nostril and comes out the other...

It is kind of bizarre to watch in action - but gf tried it recently and found significant relief. A week later they showed it in use on How I Met Your Mother, it was pretty funny.

I just ordered one. Cost is under $20, I ordered mine from CVS though it's prob available at many drugstores, in person and online.

I have frequent sinus infections and I purchased a netti pot in the fall. Haven't had a sinus infection since. Was a little hard getting used to because I thought I was committing suicide by drowning the 1st few times I used it.

I bought mine at Bed, bath and beyond.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

            yep

I had major sinus surgery about 5 years ago, after it finally got to the point where antibiotics, steriod nasal sprays, etc. no longer worked. [Trust me, you don't want to go through surgery if you can avoid it.] The ENT Dr. suggested I continue to use a netti after the surgery, to reduce potential for future problems.

Now I use one primarily in the spring and fall when I'm prone to alergies and subsiquent infections. It works for me....

Yes! I think it's a good, natural alternative that works.

Yes, I first used one about 6 years ago at a yoga retreat, we did a sinus wash and a stomach wash as part of our practice.

The Neti pots are readily available at Indian Grocery stores or markets for less than $5.

I'm sticking with Western medicine on this one. I can't stand that underwater feeling.

It works. About five/six years ago I had so many sinus infections on was on constant antibiotics. Had to find an alternative. Began using a Neti pot. Found it really helped a lot. Less sinus infections, less antibiotics.

I've been using SinuCleanse for years now and yes it works.
It's an improvement over the Neti Pot but same principle.
It was developed by an ENT and uses a gentle bulb flush instead
so you don't have that drowning feeling as with the pot.

You can buy it at Bed Bath & Beyond for around $15.

My DH suffers from sinus problems. I first sat the neti pot maybe 5-6 years ago on Oprah, when Dr. Oz was recommending it. Found it at CVS (had to ask for it). I knew my husband would be sceptical, but I thought he should at least try it...
Uses it regularly now. says it really gives him relief.

                          Neti Pot believer

I too am a believer. I suffer often from post nasal drip... but now after a cold I use it and it all but disappears...

I have hear many good things about this topic but have yet to try it myself. Come alergy season this year in July and August think this might be the thing to try. Seems pretty much everyone here has tried it at some time or another.

Yep I bought one a year ago at the suggestion of my hairdresser. I too sorta freaked out with that drowning feeling, but heck, it works! My hubby won't try it however. He says "that just ain't right" and walks away when I'm doing it.
