I use it, had 20 plus years of allergy shots, still frequent sinus infections, dr put me on a regimine, astelin in am and loratidine, neti pot in evening then half hour later flonase. Make sure you open your mouth when you do the neti pot, no drowning

I've been using one for about a year. My 11 year old daughter and 6 year old son even use one now. It's pretty amazing at helping clear out the sinuses... I noticed they were being sold at Costco recently and was quite surprised. But from this thread I see it's become the new "in" thing. :-)

I see I am behind the trend here - glad to see so many positive responses to such a non-pharmaceutical remedy. I've ordered one but will try Chriskre's alternative if the "drowning" is an issue...

Do you use tab water or distilled water in your Neti Pot?

What kind of salt? I used NETI POT SALT (HIMALY) from Puritan's Pride.

I started with the Neti Pot, but had a hard time coordinating the pouring without getting myself soaked. About two years ago, I switched to the SinuCleanse system, which uses a bottle. It's much easier to use. My daughter and I both have the bottles. Before that, we both had quite a number of sinus infections and congestion. Now, we rarely have any sinus issues. The nice thing is that we can use it more frequently if necessary, like during allergy season of when we feel like we're getting a cold. You can make your own solution. It's 1/4 teaspoon of salt mixed with 2 ounces of warm water. However, I've found the pre-measured packets to be much more convenient. And sometimes the salt in the home-made mix doesn't complete dissolve, leaving you with a nasty, over-salted solution at the bottom of the bottle.

When I first did it the Natuopath had me put table salt in a cup 1/4 t add warm water. While in the shower cup your had put the salt water in it and snuff it up your nose. It worked for years, then I bought the Neti pot. It is easy, I put the packet in add WARM water, when in the shower do one side of the nose-open mouth-it will drain out the other side of the nose or your mouth. Easy easy in the shower. Then after showering blow nose. Keeps bacteria OUT.

                Avery,
After the 3rd time and you're still alive, you know you're not going to drown.

Add me to the list of users. I don't use it too often, but allergy season is coming up in California, so will probably do it quite often. I got really bad allergies the last day we were in Maui and they were bad for a couple of weeks after I got home, so I used it then.

I am surprised to hear about people talking about it on sitcoms and, of course, Dr. Oz recommends it.

I bought mine on eBay a couple of years ago.

                    Yes

I use it twice daily, before bedtime and after my morning shower.
I purchased a stainless steel pot, which I have had for a couple of years.
