  • "Healthy" college care packages, NOT

The Campus Services company that handles food, etc at DS' school (Sedexo) often sends solicitations for "care packages." I generally ignore them but I can't believe what they just sent to encourage purchase of care packages to help students get through finals...

"The "Spirit" care package is the favorite with [your school] students. Our biggest and best Care Package features both wholesome fruits and high energy snacks... full of tasty and wholesome foods designed to bring encouragement right to your student"

Here's what's in this wholesome package - maybe sugar is considered a "high energy snack"?

    Cheez-It Snack Crackers
Cup O Noodle Chicken Noodle Instant Lunch
    Kellogg's Pop Tarts
    Laffy Taffy by Wonka
    Nature Valley Granola Bar
    Strawberry Twizzlers
    Kar's Original Trail Mix
Nabisco Wheat Thins Mini Cow Tales Candy
    Planters Cheese Peanut Butter Crackers
Dum Dum Lollipops (they should name this the Dum Dum Care Package)
    Kellogg's Fruit Snacks
    Planter's salted peanuts
    Smile Bender toy ()
    Instant Oatmeal Breakfast
    Tootsie Rolls
Red Delicious Apples (wow, real fruit)
    Act II Microwave Popcorn
    Seneca Fruit Gems
Granny Smith Apples (more real fruit!)
    Sunkist Oranges
    Kar's raisins
Welch's fruit snacks (in case you don't like Kellogg's I guess)

Lol. Exactly, where's the Red Bull?

Honestly tho, that list is just awful! Sheesh!

Who needs Redbull? There's enough sugar in that care package to last for a few final cram sessions!

I was surprised that wasn't on the list.

I'm sure it was much more then the Four Loco that took him out...I'm 30yrs old and out of shape for my age...and i've downed atleast 6 of them in a night

BTW: They are still available in some small Deli's and Convenience stores on Long Island...Once they sell out they're done...But until then...No one has been asked to take them off the shelves

I'm sure DD (hs junior) would like to receive this care package! DH says he would have liked to have received one while stationed overseas. He said the best care package he ever got was a loaf of bread. It felt heavy, so he broke it open and found a bottle of Jack Daniels.

Probably no worse than they would eat if they didn't receive the package.

I'm sure there was other stuff involved...but we are only hearing about the Four Loco! The kids in my school tell me the gas stations still sell them here.

Where on Long Island are you? I'm in Holtsville but work in Mastic Beach. The student was from Sachem, my home district.
