American Express Points....do they die with you?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hopefully someone will know this answer.

We lost a dear friend recently.

If the account is closed, will those points be lost?

    TIA.....

Pat, I'm sure someone will be along shortly who will know the answer. But you might want to try asking this question at FlyerTalk as well. They're very informative about credit card points systems.

There might be some answers in the Terms of Use for the Amex card, too.

Did you not try to call Amex first? Just curious as to what they said. I would think they would be the authoritative answer on this, and the rest of us would just be guessing.

        BTW, sorry for your loss...

I would think that if the corporation is the actual card holder and your friend was an authorized user, the corporation would still have use of the points. JMHO. I am very sorry about your friend.

            Thanks Kurt.
I know with Marriott if the MR member dies - you lose all the points, they do not transfer to the estate.

So Yes, the wife/children are members/officers of the corporation - good point.
