That's happened to me before. But, I strain in while pouring it into my mug -- drink it anyways (because I need even a little dose of caffeine) while a new pot is brewing I then plunk myself in front of the computer to check my boards Gotta have that caffeine

Frank, the upside to the weak coffee is that you had it made for you!! I should be so lucky!

Man, I hate it when that happens! I gotta have 20 ounces of coffee first thing in the morning

Get a new one ( coffee maker, not wife ) that takes a cone filter.

They even come in gold electroplate to use over and over again.

                They NEVER flip over.

                  Lawren,

we use the cone filters, ours have also done this. They don't flip over, but one side gets pushed in away from the edge creating a similar problem. We tried the gold solid one that came with our new "temporary" Braun, I think our coffee is ground too fine for it, I thought it tasted a little gritty.... ah the continuing quest for that perfect cup!!

Ours is a Gevalia with the cone filters. We have the gold insert but my wife likes the paper filters more because from what we heard they filter out the oils that can have calories and has Cholesterol.

Put the unbleached paper filter inside the gold basket. That's what I do.
