More tests to come but prob nothing serious. Either a drug-resistant bladder/urinary infection (just finished 10 day course but she still isn't right), a relaxed sphincter, common in older spade females (messy now, but medicable according to doc), possibly both. Or something that didn't show up on xray but might show up on a sonogram ($400, and unlikely). The xray ruled out stones and visible tumors. She is exhausted from the day and curled up next to me.

I treated her for fleas though I didn't see any evidence (not easy to see critters on a black thick-coated doggie), other than my mystery bites.

Are your bites all over or just on your legs?

They may be chigger bites. I am getting bit a lot this summer by them. My bites usually start itching about 24 hours later and last close to a week. Allergy meds are great and I am not one who usually takes a lot of medicines. With this itch, I would wake up at night, so I had to do something. The bites make you think of chicken pox and the tops are a little stiff. Hope this helps you, and hope you both feel better soon.

Takes just about 24 hours for me from bite to real itch.

I may have a couple in other spots, but these are concentrated on one leg.

If your dog has fleas and is kept out of a carpeted room while you were away, when you come home the eggs may have hatched and the newly hatched fleas are looking for a meal, they will attack your legs when you walk on the carpet.

If that is the case you may need to set off s flea bomb or gat an exterminator if the infestion is big. That may not be your problem but just something to think about. If you board your dog, they can also pick up fleas.
