How much music do you have?

I joined Google Music. Started to load my music up to their cloud.

5300 of 7370 songs loaded since last night.

At this rate the load will finish over the weekend.

Never realized I had over 7,370 songs and counting!

I've got roughly 7000 as well - and I did know how much because my iPOD tells me so when I plug it in online.
It's more than I ever listen to, and many are things I don't even like, but I like knowing I have it all, and still have many Gigs to fill.

Haven't done the cloud though - I guess this is a good thing to do --?

I own over 500 CD's, 259 of the old 33 1/3 vinyl albums and over 500 of the old 45 rpm records. plus 122 of the old 78 vinyl black records.

Do you have anything to play them on? I had a nice collection of vinyl albums, but sold the whole set to a hippie when I had nothing to play them on.

Yes !! I still have two turntables and about 20 diamond needles in my collection.

The key is to saved the covers on all your record collections.

Don't know exactly but probably close to 20,000 songs. We too got rid of most of our vinyl. Still have about 30 or so special albums. Even have some of my mom's records from the 1930s. My brother kept the really old stuff and the Victrola.

A couple of years ago we digitized all the CD's and now our entire music collection is on an iPod (have to switch some of it out seasonally since the largest iPod couldn't hold all of it). Backed up in about five different ways of course. Now we're in the process of selling all the hundreds and hundreds of CD's. Had over 50 Christmas CDs alone.

Don't have room to store the vinyl or CDs any more. Can't put that kind of thing in an attic or garage in Texas. Kept anything that was a collectors item or personally autographed.

Besides shelves of CDs, I have boxes of reel to reel tape.

My recorders are kapoot. Anyone close to me? I'd like to know if the tapes are still good after 25 to 30 years.
