  • Earthquake in VA/DC

A little while ago. I felt it at my house on Long Island, it was 5.8 in DC. I hope everyone is ok.

Should i call my TS in Williamsburg and ask if they've received any damage from it...or was it not that bad by earthquake standards...

I'm on Long Island too and felt it in the office!

Unless there was two, we felt it all the way up here in London, ON although it was minimal.

My brother was in an elevator that shook so hard a panel came down. He thought he was going to plummet 14 floors but fortunately did not. According to him there are "no reports yet of any major damage, just a lot of people in need of new underwear."

We were in car and didn't feel anything. When we got home, northern Virginia, saw a few items off shelves. One clock stopped running and two clocks that weren't running, started running . DS was in an elevator also. Got out and walked down stairs instead of staying in elevator.

That is a big shake for you and must have scared a lot of people. Do you get aftershocks already? Be safe.

Now I understand why my nephew is posting "End of the World, H*ll yeah!" on his Facebook. He's in Virginia....

I can't imagine how the folks in DC and NYC felt..it must have been unnerving to say the least.

I talked to my SIL. They're fine. She said at least she knew what was going on (being from Calif) other folks-not so much.

                      Hope everyone is ok.

You might not feel them, but I'll bet there were some. If you check the USGS website you can see.

In fact there was a 2.8 centered in the same place about an hour after the first quake.

We felt a pretty strong shake here in Allentown, PA. Scared us quite a bit. I don't know how the folks on the West Coast live with it all the time. Hope all our TS friends and their families are OK.

You get used to it. And they are quick.

I was online and the whole house shook violently around 1:55 PM. Haven't noticed any damage yet. I live in CT near the Mass border and not far from the NY border. Worse than the one we had around 20 years ago.
