I was working in a large school. The people in the front of the building all felt it, but I was in the back of the school and felt nothing.
My mom and her husband felt their furniture shaking and their wall pictures rattled on the South Shore of Long Island.
Hope all in VA and the DC area are ok!Jacki

My SIL who lives in VA had some plates come off the walls and some slight damage to other glass wear. I heard from friends and family one said it was nothing the other said it was bad, What was funny was for the first time I had my family who lives on the west coast ask us if we were OK. Then we got the old lines we told them all the time like why would you want to live in California with all those earth quakes. I never felt a thing since I am in Florida now.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

The one bad thing about earthquakes is that they come unexpectedly and can be any time of the day or night. Sometimes, it is the sound that gets your attention first like windows or shutters rattling. Other times, it is the shaking and they differ quite a bit too. Some are like a jolt and others are rolling and they may feel like you are losing your equilibrium until you realize that it is an earthquake. The rolling ones seem to last longer and get more intense the longer they last. Was yours a rolling one?
Have you felt any aftershocks or not? Normally, there are quite a few. You don't feel the little ones but the big aftershocks are scary because you wonder if the "BIG" one is coming and the last one was just a foreshock.
I hope that everyone is OK and not having much damage either.
