My kids often send me photos via text. I am getting them anywhere from hours to days later. I have AT&T and my phone is over 2 yrs old. Do you think it is my phone or carrier that is causing the problem?

I have been having similar issues with my Droid Global, it's Verizon. I got two voicemails today that were left yesterday. It is likely the service and not your phone.
AT&T seems to be worse than Verizon (at least on Cape Cod) but I think the service is really the blame.

System problem. When changing areas I often dial my vioce mail just so the system can "find" me.
AT&T Mobility LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of AT&T Inc. that provides wireless services to 110.6 million subscribers in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. AT&T Mobility is the largest wireless telecommunications provider in the United States ahead of Verizon Wireless, which has 97.9 million customers as of the second quarter of 2011. AT&T Mobility is headquartered in the Lenox Park area of DeKalb Co. Georgia, just outside Atlanta.
Originally Cingular Wireless LLC, a joint venture between SBC Communications and BellSouth, the company acquired the old AT&T Wireless in 2004; SBC later acquired the original AT&T and re-branded as "The New AT&T". Cingular became wholly owned by AT&T in December 2006 as a result of AT&T's acquisition of BellSouth.
In January 2007, Cingular confirmed it would re-brand itself under the AT&T name. Although the legal corporate name change occurred immediately, for both regulatory and brand-awareness reasons both brands were used in the company's signage and advertising during a transition period.[3] The transition concluded in late June, just prior to the rollout of the Apple iPhone.
On March 20, 2011, AT&T Mobility announced its intention to acquire T-Mobile USA from Deutsche Telekom for $39 billion. If AT&T receives government and regulatory approval, AT&T will have more than 160 million subscribers

I worked for AT&T Legacy company not wireless for 25 years and they (AWE) just suck in the northeast!
Why can't they or Verizon time/date stamp a voicemail? Drives me insane.Lawren

All systems or phones
We had a family get together yesterday afternoon and I brought up this same subject because it used to happen to my son on T-mobile. We had family there with Verizon and ATT and it has actually happened with a number of them from both companies plus my son when he had T-mobile.
Almost all have different phones except several I-phones.
