  • College winter break 6 weeks!!!

DS' school's winter break runs from Dec 17 - Jan 30 this year! Finals are the week of 12/12 so he'll prob have even more time off. I know it wasn't like this when I went to college and it's at least two weeks longer than last year. What are they thinking?! And what the heck am I paying for?!

If both kids were on the same schedule I mightn't complain (more ski timeshare opportunities to take advantage of), but this is ridiculous.

Are your schools doing the same thing?

Yup.....My son's school offered a winter interim program, which was 8 weeks. He never took any courses during that period, so he was off 8 weeks every winter.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Ha, me too! Only I'd prefer a nice spring semester, abroad. Lol.

BTW, my DD's school only had a 4 weekish winter break, but her classes ended earlier than most. She was always off from May to Sept. I think my DS's classes ended mid to late May. In both cases, they had lots of time off.

He didn't....He got a job as a financial analyzer, and held off going. Meanwhile, he also took the LSAT, and is now thinking about applying to a couple of schools that offer a specific degree dealing with both law & business? I'm not really sure what it is?

Time to apply for 2013 is running out, tho. He needs to make a decision.

That's a JD/MBA. The University of Michigan has a very good program!

Sounds like he has a lot of great opportunities!

                Glitter,

It's the same here. Well...for community anyway. Budget cuts have cancelled the winter session...so it's about 8 weeks off. My kid was bored out of his mind last winter. BUT-it's HS reffing season too-so I told him to take advantage of it and tank up on the dollars because when he transfers to "real" college-he won't have that time off and he will be reffing and attending class at the same time.

BTW this is the time to apply for transfer. He did it-he'll get out of comm college in 2 years...most kids don't-but he took a lot of units and will be ready to go.
