  • What's your favorite home-made Halloween Costume?

One year I went as a christmas tree. I wore a green flannel jumpsuit (back when they were in, or at least sort of in), pinned ornaments all over and in my hair, etc. and wrapped myself in strings of lights.

I had to stand fairly close to the outlet to avoid tripping the other people at the party, until the lights turned out to be more breakable than wearable

Using an old bridesmaids gown, a feather boa and a plastic pig snout. Viola! Miss Piggy.

Lol....That sounds pretty crazy! I love it!

One year I went as an alien from the Uranus.....I painted myself green, and then covered myself in sparkles. I had a really cool silver lame dress, and cape. I put all kids of stuff in my hair, which was also painted, and done in an up-do. Huge sparkly eye lashes. I was just one big glittering sparkle. It was fun, but very, very, uncomfortable. I think it took me a couple of weeks to finally get all the sparkles out of my hair, and green off my skin.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I think I had 2 home made costumes one when I was young was a Bum, they were easy to make charcoal to use for the black and a stick with a towel wrapped with paper on the end. The 2nd one was me and my son dressed as Cowboys, We had every thing since we had gone to a rodeo and bought stuff there. What is funny is I just found my picture of me and him dressed up. If I can get some time I will scan it and post it here.

I Just came up with a new costume, Combine the bum and the cowboy to make a bum of a cowboy or cowboy bum

OK. This only works at a Halloween party full of medical people.

Two people go together. One in a camouflage shirt and the other in a pair of camouflage pants. Voila! Upper and lower GI.

This is another...you have to "know" type costume.

My son is a soccer referee. If you are familiar with soccer then you understand yellow cards and red cards.

My DH and I went as a yellow card and a red card. We used colored poster board with yarn between the back and front. Think sandwich board. My son wore his official's uniform and we flanked him.

The whole get-up probably cost 10.00...and it was so last minute.

Funny thing was-we won first place in the costume contest at the party.

The year the earthquake struck in Oakland, a neighbor kid came to the door dressed as the damaged Bay bridge, complete with a toy truck dangling from its side. Questionable taste, but imaginative for a 13 year old.

I think the year or two before, he and a friend showed up wearing sweatshirts and sweat pants they'd filled with balloons and pillows to give them bulk, as SNL's Hans und Franz - "Pump You UP!" twins.

                      Lots of clever ideas here...

So cute and so true how the years fly by too quickly.

I did the Christmas tree thing one year in my early 20s and got the top prize at the nightclub - free booze for the night. (too bad I didn't drink that much back then)

First let me tell you I have a hard time sewing a button - so this is easy.

I took an old nightgown and sewed some fake pine garland around it. Then stitched on battery operated light strings and some ornaments. Star affixed to a headband for the top. Tissue boxes wrapped in wrapping paper and bows over the shoes for gifts under the tree.

All went fine until I tried to buddy up with a Santa in the club.....didn't realize he had his own tree with him!
