Has anyone visited the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC? We are thinking about stopping by when we are in DC the last week of June. Any information you may have will be helpful. I have been to the website and viewed the information there. Thanks in advance for any other information you might have.

    funtime 2,

Here is a web link to the museum's website. I have not been there but understand it is quite moving.

Last time I was in DC, I had plans to go, but ended up at the TS with a sick kid. My mom went and was not very impressed. She said it was "ok". She said that it displayed information that she has already read/ seen, but that she wasn't sorry that she went.

She has been to Auschwitz; that may have something to do with it.

I found it riveting, and would definitely go back. I had been to Dachau many years before, and had seen some of the same things...the story is the same, after all, but was nonetheless very moved and impressed.
We went early summer...pretty hot and humid...and it was a busy time. We needed to go early in the day and get tickets for a particular time to visit.
Well worth your time, in my opinion.

I was just there the end of may, chaperoning my daughter's eighth grade class trip. I think it was the first time the children were quiet the whole time through a museum. Yes, we all heard the story before but as Connie said it was quite riveting. I wouldn't pass up the chance at seeing it.

I wouldn't miss it if I were you. We went two summers ago and although I'd also seen some of the pictures before -- and heard some of the stories before, "riveting" is a perfect way to describe it. I think seeing things gave my son a better understanding of the Holocaust -- he isn't much of a reader.

We were there at the end of July though and it was extremely busy late in the afternoon.
