Do you peel potatoes toward you or away from you?

Away. Isn't it safer? But one of my kids is left-handed and she can't peel away from her because of the blade position on the peeler. She would peel toward her, but it looks so unsafe I peel the carrot (or whatever) myself!

Potatoes toward the body.

For potatoes I often use a knife instead of a peeler. Same for that.

If this relates to toilet paper preferece in any way, I'm an over the top kind of guy.

Probably more than anyone needs to know.

I don't peel as I like the peel the best! You can peel faster if you do it in both directions.

I don't like peeling potatoes at the best of times, but when I do it is always away for safety sake. I happened to gash myself once doing it towards when the potatoe peeler slipped.

Yes I think we have all done that at one time or another and with those old open aluminum peelers I will peel away from my body. The oxo I own seems to do a better job towards and I believe it would take effort to gouge yourself with it.

Funny. I never peeled apples with a peeler. I always use a paring knife. Maybe because my mother always did? Never gave it a thought before Lawren mentioned about apples.

AWAY....it is weird how we all peel differently. I have tried toward me but I do not peel as well. When I work away I do fine.
