a bad start

My daughter, her husband, her two year old and her two week old baby were supposed to fly in this morning from Minneapolis. she just called. they didn't make it from where they checked their luggage to the plane in time. the plane was there but they wouldn't let them on. they were supposed to arrive in Fort Myers at 10:50, but only their luggage will arrive, and the car seat. They are going to try to get to Orlando and rent a car and a car seat for the infant and drive down here. My daughter and the children will be staying for two months.

Here's hoping they will be able to get there today on another flight! Definately a dissapointing start to holiday's I'm sure.

they arrived in Orlando, rented a car and drove here, arrived about 5 o'clock instead of 10;40, baby is adorable

really too bad, you always need to leave plenty of time for transit to and through the airport, from cross town traffic to check-in/bag check to security to long distances to the gate. The airlines let families with tiny children board early to allow them extra time, makes sense, I remember those days, it's so easy to villainize 'they.'
