  • The Winter That Wasn't......

This is the warmest winter that I can ever remember! It's Feb 18th and it's still fairly warm & sunny outside. Around 50 degrees, I think. I only recall getting a slight dusting of snow the entire winter, and it was gone in a few hours. I just looked at the forecast for the remainder of Feb, and they're predicting 40's to 50's for New York. I love it!

The timing on this winter's weather could not have come at a better time for me. This makes up for the lousy winter we had last season!

CraZy in NC! I actually have ridden around with the top down. My plants are coming up and there's birds everywhere. March can really be iffy tho. I remember one year we had snow every Wed in March. I just hope if the weather does go south that the birds and flowers will be ok. shaggy

For the most part we have had cooler weather than normal this winter in Southern California. It is also very dry with precipitation less than 1/2 normal. There is very little snow in the mountains. This is just the opposite of last winter. However, who is to say what is normal. Every year is different.

This weather is awesome. I'm about to go jogging out in the Long Island pine barrons. Miles of trails and I'll have them all to myself!

Our local newspaper says that we are on pace to set a winter weather record with an average temperature of -1.5C. The normal is -5.5 C and that record was set back in 2001-2002.

Our mornings seem near normal, maybe a littler warmer but in the afternoon we keep getting near 70 and at the end of this week they are looking for as high as 74 near here. Almost no rain so we are lucky it was a wet one last year or we'd really be in trouble. I have a creek that runs right behind my backyard and it is slow moving this year because of the lack of rain.

                  You poor thing!

I've been following the weather in Canada, a little bit, and just feel awful for you guys. Seems you're getting all the horrible weather that we're missing here. I hope that you can at least get away to someplace warm for a break.

BTW, Europe is getting hit with horrible weather too.

I sat in my yard just about every week at least 1 time to smoke a cigar but many weeks I was able to have 3-5 Cigars in that week. Maybe we should change the terms the way we say the weather to a 2 Cigar day or a no Cigar day

While this is true, I've lived in Michigan for a total of about 30 years now. I can't *ever* remember a winter like this.

It's not the warmest of all time apparently, but it's the weirdest I've seen, for sure.

                        Same here.

I'm so happy too, because I'm not able to take a winter vacation this year. Couldn't have happened at a better time for me.

You must have me confused with the east coast! (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick)

Here in London we have had virtually no snow, and the lowest we have gotten is -15. It is not uncommon for us to get as low as -20 to -30 with the windchills so this has been abnormally warm. My father hates it, as for the first year he bought a snow blower and has only used it once even though he did not need to.

Seems a shame to be going to Canun right now (sitting her waiting in the airport now)!

I assume you mean Celsius. In any event it is still way too cold for me. I don't like it when it drops below 70 F. I did grow up in a very cold climate where winter temps of -40 were common and even -50 once in awhile. That was many years ago. It is much warmer there now.
