But to be fair, 63 is REALLY REALLY old, at that age, you're just fighting the clock

I've noticed that people who talk this way often come from families where everyone dies young. All the males in my hubby's family in his dad's generation died at 55 or earlier, for instance, and the ladies didn't live a whole lot longer. In that family, hitting your sixties is an accomplishment!

Both my grandfathers lived into their eighties (in pretty good health), while both grandmothers hit 90. My dad, in his seventies, can still outwork guys half his age. So in my family, 63 is considered middle aged.
