  • Home from the hospital

A couple months ago I started having shooting pains down my back and arms. In a week's time I had seen the Doctor but lost all feeling in three fingers of my right hand.

Well, a spinal specialist had me get an MRI and ends up I had Spinal Stenosis with thee bulging disks plus a herniated disk C4 through C7. I had surgery Thursday morning and the removed those four discs and fused my spine. I was allowed to come home yesterday at lunch time.

The worst is my throat as I still have a tough time swallowing and I need to keep my collar on so stiff from trying to find a way to sit or sleep but feeling is coming back to my fingers.

I had no choice but to do the surgery or my next set of wheels would have been a self powered chair.

Anyways, just wanted to share I survived my surgery! It's certainly nice to be out of the hospital.

Ken I would have came out there today to keep you company. I had a free day and did nothing all day. That pic does not even look like you, have you lost weight. Glad your out and now you have to take it easy for a while. I think it took my cousin 2 months to get back to normal after the same surgery.

I have lost some weight this year. It's not been a good year. Just trying to rest and I sure can tell when it is time for more pain meds. One day at a time!

Do not be afraid to take the meds. If you wait to long it will take that much longer to kick in. Always take them at night before bed and if you get up a few hours later. It is mainly for the first 3 weeks that you need them and You will be happy you took them.

Ken, Glad to hear you made it through the surgery ok and hope it is a quick recovery. If you have a reclining chair, try reclining back just a little bit and sleeping that way. For many surgeries it is the most comfortable way to sleep in the beginning.
