  • Shall I skip Rocky Mt NP?

On my cross country trip from VA I'll drive 8000.

I'm thinking of visiting Bad Lands/Rushmore, Teton, Glacier, Yosemite, Grand Canyon.

I read what others say about Rocky Mt NP, but see it to be 500 south of the Rushmore to Teton route, but don't wish to pass up something great.

Are the vistas in RMNP anywhere close to those in Teton or Glacier?

How's the route from RMNP to Teton?

Rocky Mountain National Park is beautiful. However, having visited all three parks, I think that both Grand Teton National Park and Glacier National Park are more scenic. The mountains are just more stunning and more dramatic.

I personally don't think it is worth the detour from Mount Rushmore south to Rocky Mountain National Park. (Opinions will probably vary, however.) If you do make the side trip, the route from Rocky Mountain to Grand Teton is long and fairly boring...but it isn't difficult. It's mostly high plains and desert valleys through Wyoming.

I think Steve's overview is pretty good...our 2 cents: RM is a beautiful park, but I doubt that I would make the detour on this trip if I were doing the driving....it is something that you could see on another trip, rather than "on the way" to some spectacular locations.
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

          OK, I give

Well, since I get to the part in summer and winter and the sights are unbelieveable,l going the the Tetons and others are also great places to visit. I have not been where you are going and have them on the list of trips to do. Have a good trip.
