  • Anyone do "theme" trees for Christmas?

I always did a collection of mostly old, added some new each year. I love antique ornaments. Never did a particular color or theme. I have heard of some doing all sports, and I know many prefer one or two colors.

Now that most of my decorations have gone missing, I am rethinking what to do in a hurry. Will probably do some ribbons in with the ornaments I have left, if I can get down to the ribbon district by this weekend. I suppose Michael's might do as well.

At dinner the other night, friends asked if we preferred "tacky" or "tasteful." I would say generally tasteful. They have trouble agreeing since one likes "tacky" or "kitschy" and the other "tasteful."

But I just found these on ebay and am thinking there's another category - Creepy. And I've only just started looking. Prices will be much better after the holidays, but it looks like these babies are gonna sell:

Our ornaments are from our travels/ BTW if one breaks then we have to go back to that place to get another one.

I like the traditional Christmas colours - red, green, gold, silver, white and prefer to use them rather than the brights like fuschia, aqua, lime etc. My favourite ornaments are hand-blown, hand-decorated glass from France and Switzerland which I collected in the 80's and 90's. I do like "one colour" themes also but don't do them. A local store has done an all white theme with white feather ornaments and bows, dozens of large white fluffy owls and peacocks which I find a bit creepy even though it is quite stunning.

How's this for a creepy front door ornament http://tinywhitedaisies.tumblr.com/p...a-bjornsdotter

A new punchline for the old "What's black and white and red all over?"

I would probably go with the Christmas theme.

Although at the lake we have one up in the living room, year-round, decorated with lures, bobbers, minature creels, etc., and mini-lights. It's on whenever either of us have the energy to go way over there and plug it in.

Both good themes - plenty of potential variety and always room to collect more! My (only) disney ornament got broken a few years ago. It was a really large Mickey - the kind with just the circles. Got it on my only trip to Disney when the kids were little, and I do miss it.

My mom made a whole bunch of felt figures based upon the old wooden clothespins way back when. I have a couple and each of my sisters have a couple. My tree is eclectic to put it nicely. No rhyme or reason. But so many ornaments just hold a memory. It is nice to take out each memory and place on the tree.

I have my father's American Flyer train set which is as old as I am too!

This is my first tree in two years for one reason or another. DS's gf has never trimmed a tree or had eggnog. Should be fun.

That's the part that's killing me about my missing ones

In the past, alternating years, I've done and all red tree or an all while tree. Bought a new tree this year with multi-colored lights, so guess that won't be the case this year.

                              Wishful thinking?
