  • Savannah Ga. information needed

I am planning a vacation for my mom and 3 of her friends ( all in their 70's) at Hilton Head. One of the days they are wanting to go to Savannah. Can anyone give me some suggestions on Savannah. I know they have tours (trolley and horse carrage). Has anyone been on either of these? Any other information that you can give would be a great help. I have been there, but it has been 7 years ago. Also great places to eat on the riverfront would be of help.

If they want to eat at an historic place go eat at the Pirate's house, This is a real pirate house that has ghosts.
If they are driving there is a short cut and much more scenic view. only problem I don't know what I did with the directions. I will try to find them out and post them here.

They might enjoy taking a cruise to Savannah from Harbourtown on the Spirit of Harbourtown. The ship is very nice and confortable, and the trip is narrated. It leaves about 9:30 AM and returns at 4:30 PM - It takes about 90 minutes each way, so they would have about 4 hours to tour Savannah and can even buy Trolley tour tickets on board if they want to take a guided tour of the city.

Joan, you beat me to Lady & Sons, if you can't get in there try Mrs. Wilkes. I enjoyed the trolly tour. Read In the Garden of Midnight or Evil (something like that) shaggy

              Dear Funtime2,

I've done the trolley tours many times. I still love them. Even if you wish to stay on for most of the tour, get off and walk around the riverfront.

My top recomendation is Mrs. Wilkes for lunch. It's a must do in my book.
