  • Please check out this great blog - Desperately Seeking Jon Stewart

The author of this blog was killed in a freak accident yesterday. Please honor her with a few minutes' reading. Thanks, folks.

    Intro page:

Me, Myself & I (Plus Him)

Here’s the deal: As a once (and future) successful (reasonably) writer-producer, I have an extensive media background. So, I’m not off the turnip truck, but definitely off the fast track. This blog is a part of an overall effort to work my way back to work. And while I’ll take any work I can get, what I’m really working towards is the ultimate goal of meeting Jon Stewart….

Disclaimer: This is NOT a fan site. I am not interested in personal info on Jon Stewart or connecting with other groupies. I realize there are legions out there. This is purely a self-serving endeavor. The express purpose of this blog is to gain (eventual) access to Jon Stewart.

Disclaimer Explainer: I am not a stalker. I do not want to have an affair with Jon Stewart. For those of you who remember Rosie O’Donnell’s talk show, she had a massive crush on Tom Cruise, but she didn’t want to sleep with him. She just wanted him to come over and hang out, eat a meal, maybe have him mow the lawn. At the time, she was not living openly as a lesbian. Nor was he, for that matter. Living openly, I mean. Well, except as a Scientologist. Anyway, Rosie’s subsequent coming out attests to the total veracity of her innocent affections. Similarly (except for the lesbian part…and the part where I have my own tv show), I just want Jon to be around, to become friends with him and his family, and have him reference and revere me the way I do him. Maybe get together for the occasional barbecue. Marriages intact. Kids not freaked out.

Dystopia: There have been multiple similar such efforts in the zeitgeist. From the docu-comedy, “My Date With Drew” to every homemade YouTube appeal seeking heartthrob pop stars as prom dates. So, you see, I’m not alone. However, I believe my effort is just a bit different. Allow me to explain…

Desire: I do not want to meet Jon Stewart because he is aware of my blog. Although I freely confess my passion for him, I cringe at the thought of his considering me just a lovesick sycophant whom he agrees to meet at some point to placate–or issue a restraining order. I want to meet him because I have accomplished something significant. I want to meet him because I’m somebody to meet. Think of his typical guests: authors, titans of industry, journalists, world leaders, film directors. They’ve all done something meaningful. I must do something meaningful. So meaningful that it lands me in the guest seat on The Daily Show. All I need is to invent/disccover/do something–like, say, write the next great American novel. Or even just a mediocre one–not every author is a best-seller. Okay, yes, most of them. Anyway, that’s the scoop on me, this is my blog about making my way to him and that’s that.

    Away we go…

So sad. I bet she would have met him had she lived as long as she should have. Perhaps in the afterworld.

        Hmmm

I personally like the continuing saga of JBL and the OFs.
